I played on the Championship Team and have a lot of great pictures, articles, stories and memories from that season. At that time in Park City’s history, the pride and solidarity of the close knit community was unimaginable. Many of the players are still around. Good times for sure. Marty Cowin

It was great to be there watching our team win. Awesome, great team, great games.

It was a coming of age year for all the sports teams. HS volleyball didn’t disappoint. Park City Ski Team did exceptionally well too. Yes, it was a “coming out year”.

This is my second posting and I loved this article and thank you for keeping fond memories alive historically. If I may suggest one slight correction, and at the same time, give you a players perspective of the end of the Parowan game it would be as follows. The Parawan game presented an interesting challenge as their front line was 6’7”, 6’6”, & 6’6”. I was the tallest player for Park High at 6’5”. The last second shot during the Parowan game didn’t circle around the rim and fall to the floor, I blocked the shot. Within about about a two second time span, I blocked the shot, the final buzzer went off and the referee blew his whistle. Since the ball was above the height of the rim, we instantly feared that the whistle was the result one of two things; 1) the referee gave Parawon an unjustified “goaltending” call. Or 2) We were worried that the referee may be calling me for a 5th foul, which would have disqualified me for a potential overtime. When we looked to the referees and saw that they were waving their hands, signaling the end of the game, and pronouncing “Game Over”, we were so happy. As I jogged past the referee towards our bench and players, he said, “that was an outstanding block (32)”. All I could manage back was a bit simple; “Thanks Ref”.

Thanks for the opportunity to share.
