SUMMARY:House & Home (June 16 - August 11\, 2016)
DESCRIPTION:What make a house a home?  Throughout American history\, people have lived in all sorts of places\, from military barracks and two‐story colonials to college dormitories and row houses.  Drawn from the flagship installation at The National Building Museum\, House & Home embarks on a tour of houses both familiar and surprising\, through past and present\, to explore the varied history\, and many cultural meanings of the American home. \nNEH on the Road’s House & Home encourages visitors to explore how our ideal of the perfect house and our experience of what it means to “be at home” have changed over time. The exhibition includes domestic furnishings and home construction materials\, photographs\, “please touch” interactive components\, and films. Together\, the objects and images illustrate how transformations in technology\, government policy\, and consumer culture have impacted American domestic life. \nThis exhibition is made possible by NEH on the Road\, a special initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities.  House & Home was organized by the National Building Museum in Washington\, D.C.  It was adapted and toured by Mid-America Arts Alliance.

DESCRIPTION:This year’s tour will explore the historic homes on lower Park Ave and lower Woodside. Discover how today’s residents make creative use of these small historic miners’ cottages. Because of the area’s distance from Main Street\, this neighborhood was settled later in Park City’s history so features a varied collection of local vernacular architecture popular during the early 20th century from hall-parlor to pyramid style houses. \nTickets: $15 members/$20 non-members. \nFree parking is available at the Park City Library or Skate Board Park parking lots\, located on Park Ave. \nPlease call the Park City Museum for more information 435-649-7457.   \nTickets available now online or at the Park City Museum\, 528 Main Street. \n\n \n \n Schedule A School Tour\n \n \n School*Teacher Name*Mailing Address* \n \n \n \n Mailing Address\n \n \n Address Line 2\n \n \n City\n \n AlabamaAlaskaAmerican SamoaArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoConnecticutDelawareDistrict of ColumbiaFloridaGeorgiaGuamHawaiiIdahoIllinoisIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMinnesotaMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNevadaNew HampshireNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaNorthern Mariana IslandsOhioOklahomaOregonPennsylvaniaPuerto RicoRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahU.S. Virgin IslandsVermontVirginiaWashingtonWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingArmed Forces AmericasArmed Forces EuropeArmed Forces Pacific\n State\n \n \n ZIP Code\n \n \n Contact: Telephone*Contact: Email*Grade Level*Estimated Number of Students*Which date would you like to come?
