SUMMARY:Chinese Immigration Lecture with Chris Merritt
DESCRIPTION:Chris Merritt\, an archeologist from the Utah Division of State History\, will be at the Park City Museum’s Education and Collection Center located at 2079 Sidewinder Avenue on December 13\, 2017 from 5-6PM to discuss the thousands of Chinese workers who came to Utah to help with the construction of the Central Pacific Railroad in 1869.  Many stayed until the 1890’s leaving behind a historical and archaeological legacy.  Over the past few years\, State History and the BLM have worked to discover more of this history and to build towards the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad in 2019.   \nMerritt received a Ph.D. from the University of Montana in 2010 in Anthropology.  He has previously worked for the United States Forest Service and private archaeological firms in Nevada\, Utah\, and Montana.   \nThe Park City Museum will be hosting the Way We Worked exhibition from November 11\, 2017 through January 10\, 2018.  The Way We Worked has been made possible in Utah by Utah Humanities. The exhibition\, created by the National Archives\, is part of Museum on Main Street\, and collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and State Humanities Councils nationwide. Seventy six years ago on a dark and stormy night a B-18 Bomber met its fate in a fiery crash on Iron Mountain.  This is an “updated” version of the original presentation covering new material – including a discussion on the first plane crash in Park City.

DESCRIPTION:Park City Museum will present a lecture called Abandon Ship Part 2 by Steve Leatham and David Nicholas on Tuesday\, February 13th from 5-6PM at the Park City Museum Education and Collections Center located on 2079 Sidewinder Drive. Back by popular demand the Museum will host another lecture regarding the only fatal airplane accident in Park City’s history. Seventy six years ago on a dark and stormy night a B-18 Bomber met its fate in a fiery crash on Iron Mountain.  This is an “updated” version of the original presentation covering new material – including a discussion on the first plane crash in Park City.
