DESCRIPTION:Park City Museum and Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History will host a lecture called Ghosts of the Past: Unearthing Utah’s Mining History Through Abandoned Mines given by Stuart Burgess on Wednesday\, January 15\, 2025 from 5-6 p.m. held at the Park City Museum Education and Collections Center located at 2079 Sidewinder Drive.  More information can be found at www.parkcityhistory.org. \nDive into the hidden stories of Utah’s mining history as we explore abandoned mines that have long been forgotten. This lecture will shed light on the rich heritage of Utah’s mining industry\, offering unique insights gained from firsthand underground explorations of these historical sites.  \nStuart Burgess is a seasoned expert in both the history and future of the mining industry\, with a career that spans over a decade of active involvement in mineral exploration and mining. His journey in the industry began through his work with Burgex Inc. and Mojave Underground\, where he played a pivotal role in numerous mineral exploration and mining projects across the United States. Stuart’s hands-on experience in hundreds of projects has solidified his reputation as a thought leader\, bringing innovative services and forward-thinking ideas to the Burgex team.  \nBeyond his professional achievements\, Stuart has been deeply involved in preserving and promoting Utah’s mining history since 2007. He has led underground abandoned mine tours that offer unique insights into the state’s rich mining heritage and has become a sought-after speaker on Utah mining history. His expertise has been recognized at prominent venues\, including the Mining History Association and the Utah Heritage Foundation. Stuart’s commitment to historical preservation is further demonstrated by his candidacy for the Utah Board of State History and his lifetime membership in the Utah Historical Society. His extensive personal collection of mining history books and artifacts underscores his dedication to both the historical and technical aspects of mining.  \nAs the Chairman and Co-Founder of Burgex Inc.\, Stuart continues to push the boundaries of the industry\, combining his deep historical knowledge with innovative approaches to modern mineral exploration.
