SUMMARY:FOSMMH Mining History Ski Tour
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join the Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History for a mining history ski tour of Park City Mountain Resort to learn about our preservation projects – both current and past! On this tour you will visit stabilization projects that we have completed as well as learn about our rich mining history and our efforts to save the Silver King and Thaynes mine complexes. Here are the details for the tour: \n\nFor tours beginning before 1pm\, you will need a paid parking reservation at Park City Mountain or take public transit to the base area.\nThis tour is not for beginners as it contains runs on green and blue slopes\, but no black diamonds.\nThe tour will take 2 to 2.5 hours and we will plan for a restroom stop.\nBring your Epic Pass.  Thanks to Park City Mountain and EpicPromise\, we will provide those who do not have an Epic Pass a complimentary lift ticket.\n\nIf you would like to join us for this free ski tour please RSVP on this page with your email address. SUMMARY:The Last Passenger Train to Park City-All Aboard! lecture given by David Nicholas and Stuart Stanek
DESCRIPTION:Park City Museum will host a lecture called The Last Passenger Train to Park City-All Aboard! given by David Nicholas and Stuart Stanek on Thursday\, February 27\, 2025 from 5-6 p.m. held at the Education and Collections Center located at 2079 Sidewinder Drive.  Please note the change of day for this lecture.  More information can be found at www.parkcityhistory.org. \nFebruary 1971 witnessed the last passenger train “forever” to Park City.  The lecture chronicles the circumstances underpinning this event\, Park City railroad’s history\, the evolution of Ski Trains (both nationally and locally)\, the demise of intercity passenger service\, and the birth of Amtrak.  Besides vintage photographs depicting the town’s passenger train activity\, we have images from people who rode the last passenger train. Please join us!\nDavid Nicholas serves on the Board of the Park City Museum\, is interested in local history\, and frequently contributes to the “Way We Were” series. Also\, he conducts periodic lectures and historic hikes. His particular interests include but are not limited to Park City’s transportation history and local plane crashes.  \nStuart Stanek is a forty-year broadcasting veteran.  He managed one hundred and twenty-five radio stations in twenty-five different markets across the country. He served as a general manager and a regional President for iHeart Radio which is the nation’s largest broadcaster. He was involved in all facets of the business including sales\, programming\, operations\, and marketing.  He is married to Ann Crooks and they have lived in Park City for thirty-five years.
