A Celebration of the Apron: Remembering the Richness of Our Lives Through a Humble Icon.
Just as in the early days, no one wears an apron to Club, although at a recent FCE convention, there was a program on aprons, and we all wore ours and participated in an apron parade. The styles reminded us of how much has changed for country women, but the apron and its strings still draw the family together, and home life will always be our first and highest priority. ©EllynAnne GeiselAccompanied by a laundry basket full of aprons, EllynAnn Geisel speaks on the apron’s historical odyssey, shares her life-changing apron journey, and discusses the people, aprons and stories she’s met and collected along the way. Audience members are encouraged to wear their own favorite aprons, and share in the storytelling.Self-described “apron curator” or “apron archaeologist” EllynAnne Geisel collaborated with award-winning documentary photographer Kristina Loggia to create the exhibit,
The Apron Chronicles that is currently open in the Park City Museum’s Tozer Gallery. The exhibit explores the American experience as seen and read through nearly 50 images, text in story form, and 155 vintage aprons. The stories explore the people behind the aprons and give life to both the fabric and the exhibit.
