Volunteering at the Park City Museum

The Park City Museum offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities for you to help preserve, protect, and promote the rich history and heritage of Park City. We wouldn’t be able to do all we do without our amazing and valuable volunteer base!

Volunteer Opportunities

Your work at the Park City Museum builds on your specific interests and skills. View the opportunities listed below for a more detailed look at opportunities.

Museum Tour Guide Expand

Year-round. Need based on tours scheduled.

Share your knowledge and enthusiasm for Park City’s history with visitors as you guide them through the Museum’s exhibits, either in informal gatherings or large group tours. Training provided.

School Tour Docent Expand

September – June. Need based on tours scheduled.

Bring history to life for school-aged visitors! Facilitate group tours for young learners in accordance with formal educational programming. Training provided.

Walking Tour Docent Expand

Memorial Day – Labor Day. Once a week.

Lead visitors on a tour down Main Street. Paint pictures of the past as you share stories about the people who lived here and the architecture of the historic district. Training provided.

Gallery Guide Expand

Year-round. Once a week.

Assist front desk staff in getting patrons started in the museum. Spend time in the Museum galleries, answer questions and help visitors explore our town’s rich heritage! Training provided.

Collections Assistant (Currently Unavailable) Expand

Year-round. Once a week Monday through Friday. (Currently unavailable.)

Get up close and personal with our vast collection. Help organize, catalog, digitize, and research objects, archives, and photos that tell stories from Park City’s past. Training provided.

“Way We Were” Contributing Writer Expand

Year-round. Assignment-based.

Research and write short articles on the people, places, and events of Park City history to be published in the weekly “Way We Were” column in the Park Record newspaper. Editing and guidance provided.

General Office Help Expand

Year-round. Assignment-based.

Help us with mailings, filing, and other general office tasks as needed. Training provided.

Special Event Opportunities Expand

Want to get involved but don’t have the time to commit to a regular shift or project? We’ve still got plenty of opportunities for you!

If you’re interested in a behind-the-scenes look at exhibits, come help us with traveling exhibit installations and de-installations, or participate in our semi-annual deep cleaning and exhibit maintenance days.

If working with the public is more your style, you might be interested in helping with gallery craft days or the Historic Home Tour.

Exhibits Installation Help Expand

Year-round. Infrequently, 3-4 exhibits per year.

Work with our curator to help us install and de-install temporary and traveling exhibitions. Training provided.

Volunteer Application
