Archival collections are unique historic resources rich in information. The Park City Museum accessions and maintains archival materials as part of its permanent collection. These materials are available to researchers for use on a supervised basis.
Using the Archives
The letters, receipts, postcards, brochures, ledgers, and other records that make up the collections housed at the Park City Museum are not readily available elsewhere and are thus some of the most important research tools the Research Library has to offer.

Permission to Examine
- Use of material by researchers is subject to approval.
- Some collections may have access restrictions due to agreements with donors, copyright issues, or applicable legal restrictions of personal information. Researchers will be informed when such restrictions exist.
- As with other uses of the Research Library, appointments are strongly encouraged. Please request an appointment online, email, or call 435-649-7457 ext. 112 to set up a time for your visit.
- Upon arrival, all researchers must fill out this form before archival materials will be pulled.
Protection of Materials
- Only Research Library staff are allowed access to the archives storage areas. Researchers may not pull their own material.
- Browsing physical archival collections is not allowed. Prior to use, researchers should first browse finding aids and PastPerfect (our on-site database) catalog records in order to determine the exact collections, boxes, and folders they wish to examine.
- Some material is housed off-site. These collections will be clearly noted and will require 48-hours advance notice for use.
- The Research Library maintains a One Box, One Folder use policy meaning a researcher may only look at one collection at a time, one box at a time, removing only one folder from the box at a time.
- Laptops, pencil, and paper are allowed.
- No personal scanners. No pens. No food or drink.
- Some collections contain very fragile material. Archival gloves will be provided for safe handling.
Browse Finding Aids
Finding aids are research tools that outline and describe what an individual collection contains. They include biographical information on the person, families, or companies who originated the records as well as box and folder lists of the contents. If you are interested in using any of our collections for your research, please review the finding aid and discuss your project interests with Research Coordinator Dalton Gackle via email or telephone, at 435-649-7457 ext. 112 or in person with an appointment.
