FreeThanks to your Live PC Give PC donations the last two years, Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History is saving the Alliance Watchman’s Cabin which barely made it through the heavy snowfalls last winter. Clark Martinez and his Xcavations crew have finished their Phase 2 work for the summer, and we are now confident the cabin can withstand the coming winter.
We thought we would invite you on a Mining History Hike to see your generous donations at work. The guided hike will begin at the Ontario Trailhead on Marsac Avenue and include in addition to visiting the cabin we will visit several of the mines located in Empire Canyon:
- Ontario No 3 Headframe and Shaft House
- American Flag Mine Interpretive Sign
- Massachusetts Mine Historical Sign
- Daly Judge Tramway
- Explosive Bunker
- Judge Office Building
- Daly Judge Tunnel (1 of the 3 mining era tunnels that provides Park City water)
- Silver King Pump House
- Alliance Mine Building
This is a 3 mile out and back hike on a wide gravel road with 400 vertical change and will take approximately two hours. Â If you would like to join us, please register below:
Friday October 6th @ 2 PM – Instructions to be emailed to you 24 hours before the hike.
Following the hike please join us for a social hour at Offset Brewery!
On behalf of Sally and our all-volunteer committee, thanks for helping us save this important part of our mining history.
Regards,
