Pop Jenks Revisited
In 1988 the Park City Museum published a small book celebrating the life and work of local photographer J.E. Jenkins, better known as Pop Jenks. The museum store ran out of copies many years ago. Now, with the help of a digital search program and the recollections of Jenkins’ daughter, Thelma Uriarte, the museum is publishing an updated and expanded version of that book, “Park City’s Pop.”
On Friday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m., at the museum’s new Education and Collections Center, 2079 Sidewinder Drive, local journalist David Hampshire will talk about the many contributions of Pop Jenks and the story behind the acquisition of more than 600 of his photographs. After the discussion, Hampshire will sign copies of the book.
