Prostitution was a common feature in Wild West towns. By the turn of the century, city fathers began to seek ways to control the trade and consolidate the brothels into neighborhoods such as The Stockade in Salt Lake City.
Park City had its own red-light district called “The Row,” which was located along the north side of Deer Valley road in 16 separate “cribs” presided over for more than 20 years by a woman who came to be known as Mother Urban. Who was this woman of mystery and how did she come to be called Mother? Come learn more about Park City’s Mother Urban.
Melissa Clark has been learning about Park City History since her first visit to Park City over 15 years ago. Now a resident, she is a guide for the Ski Tours in the winter and Main Street Walking Tours and Mine History Hikes in the summer for the Museum. She is also a member of Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History.
A mountain host and hiking guide at Park City Mountain Resort, Sandy Brumley is a descendent of iron miners in Minnesota and an avid student of Park City History. This will be the fifth in a series of presentations he has made for the Museum. He is a hike leader for the Museum and a member of Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History.
