October 5 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
On Saturday, October 5 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. or so the Park City Museum will host a walk and talk exploring the former in town infrastructure of both the Union Pacific Railroad and the Denver and Rio Grande Railroads. Board member and Museum Researcher David Nicholas will be your “conductor” for the journey back in time.
Befitting an industrial mining town, Park City featured two railroad yards, two train stations and over fifteen (15) different sidings serving various industries. Rails originally reached Park City in 1880. The last train departed the summer of 1988.
Another consideration, we may have two guests join us who both lived in town when the railroad was vital to the prosperity of Park City.
Please bring water, sunscreen, snacks, and a hat. We’ll be walking on sidewalks and/or the rail trail.
Come join us – it will be fun!
