On April 26, 1968 the Union Pacific Park City local suffered a catastrophic failure of its braking system – while in town! To the terror of multiple eye witnesses the unmanned train hurtled through town ultimately derailing on a sharp curve as the tracks turned east out of town. Please join us at 5pm on 9/27/2018 at Park City Museum’s new Education and Collections Center facility located at 2079 Sidewinder for a lecture by David Nicholas on this accident and two other derailments in Park City. The lecture will include photographs and eyewitness accounts of the 1968 event.David Nicholas is a volunteer at the PCHS and frequent contributor to “The Way We Were” section of the Park Record.
